- Introduction to, and hands-on application of four main patterns in music: Rhythm, Melody, Texture, Form
- Writing and Reading Music Notation
- African Percussion
- Spotlight on major composers
- Guitar - Performance and History (8th Grade Gen. Music only)
- Music Technology Unit - composing music using computers.

General Music Grade Breakdown
- Participation - student is engaged in discussion, volunteering to read or write on board, contributing in group activities.
- Attitude - student shows respect to
teacher and to subject being taught. Student is aware that a negative
attitude will effect their final grade for that project or class period.
- Completion of music notebook, worksheets, tests and quizzes
