Students will learn how to manage their course loads as well as how to advocate for themselves as learners. There will be periodic check-ins on the planning method students self-selected as well as their material organization. First, students will take a learning style inventory to better understand how they learn and work as individuals. Learning how to check PowerSchool and understand how their grades are weighted will be an area of focus. Students will learn how to set attainable goals, strategies to work towards achieving those goals, and also how to reflect on the status of their goals. Students will work on time management of homework, including prioritizing assignments. Strategies for studying as well as study skills will be taught through this unit. Learning how to advocate for oneself when struggling with learning or when needing to make up work from an absence will be taught as well.
